We have fish. Finally.
You may remember, way back when, I blogged about getting a new, fantastic looking, even if I do say so myself, BiÜbe fish tank. Well, I took my second water sample back a week later only to be told, again, that the water wasn't quite right and I should wait another week!
Cue disappointed children (and mum).
However, third time, and over 3 weeks later from setting up the tank, lucky. We got a fish. A red Fantail goldfish to be precise. Oh the joy on the children's faces when we finally, after letting it get acquainted with the water, set it free. And the joy on my face when I came downstairs the following morning to find it still alive.
A week later we went back to the aquatic shop, took another sample of water and fantastically were told our water was great and yes, we could add another fish. Woohoo! The children spent ages, and ages, trying to decide on which type of fish to choose - so I chose. A black Moore. Hmmm, not a popular choice. What I saw as different and appealing in an odd sort of way, they saw as, in their words, UGLY. Poor little fish. He can't help his googly eyes.
And then finally, after another couple of weeks, we went back to the shop with yet another water sample yesterday and our third, and final, fish joined our little watery room. The last fish is a red and white Ryukin which is actually more white than red but we like him that way.
Now the children are happy. They have a fish each but ... now the dilemma ... who gets which goldfish? Harriet was very adamant she wanted the red Fantail. They were all adamant that none of them wanted the black Moore. Noah wanted whatever fish the girls wanted. Didn't matter which one as long he was getting what they wanted. Katarina, I swear that girl will make a great diplomat one day, came to the rescue and said that she would have the ugly one.
Now the only thing left to do was to name them.
I proudly present: Chuckles (Harriet's), Google (Katarina's) and Cheep Cheep (Noah's fish - don't ask).
