Feeling blah

I've got this terribly irritating cough, you know the sort, a dry, pathetic cough where you never seem to be able cough enough to clear it, and it's keeping me up at nights. Then this morning I wake up with a pain in my sinus and feeling even more yucky.

And I have so much to do. I won't be able to scrap until I get my house sorted and tidied.

Oh, well, tomorrow is another day...

Playing blog catch up

Ok, I'll keep this brief but just wanted to get my blog all caught up with what's been happening in my world since my last few posts (author reserves the right to expand on a few topics at a later date!).

• Moved house, slowly, over the last few weeks, not as stress free as I'd imagined and now THIS house looks like a bomb site (what's new?)



• Major internet connection problems (which partly explains why I haven't been able to post for as long as I have). I think the initials BT stand for something completely different. In fact they have still not connected us and we are now in dispute with them (almost definitely more on this subject to follow)



• Loads of visitors to our new house in the first week (before we'd even really moved). My mum & step dad arrived on the Wednesday, left on the Friday, my sister (& husband & 5, yes 5, children arrived on the Saturday and stayed until Tuesday). Great to be with family but perhaps the timing could have been better?



• Mother's Day. Totally spoiled and pampered all day. Taken out for a very posh meal and obviously my 'Just in Case' section is working because he bought me the beautiful dichoric glass heart pendant {note to self 'update Just in Case section often'}



• ScrapManic - YAY! - last Friday and arrived home last evening (more on this later I think)

Now it's the first day of the Easter holidays and I'm looking forward to some down time. Where you don't have to rush around in the mornings (not that I do much, this is pretty much Richard's domain), no school uniform to get washed and dried, no going through the trauma of persuading Noah that "really pre-school is great and you'll have a fantastic morning darling" (knowing full well that within 5 minutes of dropping him off he'll be having a whale of a time, and no rushing around to all their various activities.

I'll catch up in more detail later but for now a great big hello to all my friends, cyber ones or not!

Toot! Toot!

I know, I know, very American of me but I am now finally able to tell people that I was lucky enough to be one of the winners of the Best of British Scrapbooking contest!

I have been in complete shock over it and just completely amazed to have been selected. My scrapbooking buddies will know that I've never been overly confident about my scrapbooking abilities and so I nearly didn't even enter the contest. It was a last minute decision and I didn't tell anyone - not even Richard!!! So you can imagine his face when he walked in to the living room a couple of weeks ago to find me jumping up and down on my chair, woohooing (is this a word?) and looking very excited.

I'm still completely gobsmacked and keep thinking that they must have made a mistake and that they actually meant to give me the wooden spoon as the worst submission LOL!

I'm even more surprised when I see what fantastic company I'm in and am in awe of some of the other winners, who I 'know' through UK Scrappers, as they do some amazing work.

Anyway, this is my 5 minutes of scrapbooking fame and I'm going to enjoy it!

Lots still more to do, like unpack all my scrapbooking stash along with about 40 other boxes or so but we do have beds, we do have most of our furniture and we are slowly getting there.

We don't have internet access though :(

How am I posting this you then may ask? I'm being very naughty and I've picked up a wireless signal from somewhere in our vicinity and I'm precariously catching up on emails and such surfing their wave {Jools runs and hides her head in shame - insert embarrassed smilie here - I'm on Richard's laptop Nat so don't have access to my lovely stash of smilies!}

So, just popping on quickly to let everyone know that I should be up and running proper by Tuesday next week.

Discrimination

Why is it that all the major scrapbooking contests are only for residents of the US and Canada? Oh, but let's not forget to exclude Quebec, last time I looked (and was living in Canada) Quebec was still part of Canada (we know they don't want to be


- but they are!).

Don't they value a LO for the LO itself, never mind if a different language is used? Don't countries outside of the States and Canada contribute to keeping the scrapbooking market in the US going? Don't we for the most part have to import all our products from the US? Can't they acknowledge the world wide spread of scrapbooking and open up their doors for all countries? Or is it because if they do that they will have to accept that there are some amazing scrapbookers out there that aren't American - and you know what? They are pretty darn good, even better sometimes

OK, off my soap box now. And no, before anyone asks, I am not anti-American, just anti-exclusion.

Only one more sleep before we complete on our house. And I'm not even remotely excited.

I know why but even so I did think that at this point I would start to feel just a little bit excited. But nope, not one little bit. I'm obviously feeling something because I didn't sleep a wink last night but I think that's more about the logistics of the move going round and round in my mind.

Oh well, just one more sleep and maybe once the keys are in my hand I'll start to feel a little excitement?
